Guided Writing Group
Sarah is teaming up with developmental editors and writing coaches Karen Dewart McEwen, Micha Rahder, and Kate Turner to run Directed Draft, a guided writing group that brings scholars from the humanities and social sciences together on Zoom for dedicated writing time, accountability, and individualized revision support.
What is Directed Draft?
Directed Draft is designed to help scholars build a more consistent and productive writing practice while making meaningful progress on their works in progress.
Participants have access to multiple group writing sessions every week in these eight-week sessions. Guided sessions include check-ins, focused writing blocks, scheduled breaks, and time to plan next steps, while additional drop-in sessions provide a quieter opportunity to work alongside other scholars.
Participants also meet one-on-one with one of the facilitating coaches/editors and can chat with them about specific writing challenges or issues in break-out rooms during guided sessions.
Who is it for?
Directed Draft is designed primarily for scholars in the humanities and social sciences who are working on substantial writing projects, including journal articles and book manuscripts.
It can be particularly helpful if you're looking for:
Dedicated time to make progress on your writing
Structure and accountability without rigid deadlines
A small community of other academic writers
Coaching and editorial support as you work through writing or revision challenges
A more sustainable and consistent writing practice
